Hydrogen and Chlorine monitoring for the Chlor-Alkali Industry.
The Chlor-Alkali process involves the electrolysis of a brine (NaCl) solution to produce chlorine, sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) and hydrogen. As the primary product, it is essential to measure the chlorine concentration in order to understand the efficiency of each of the process stages as well determining the purity of the final manufactured chlorine product. However, it is equally important to monitor hydrogen for process safety as well as providing an indicator to give advanced warning on potential membrane failure.
