MTL wins prestigious safety award

The MTL Instruments Group have good reasons to celebrate after picking up an award at the recent HazardEx exhibition. The SIL 2 approved MOST SafteyNet Functional Safety platform collected the “Contribution Towards Safety” award sponsored by ABB. SafetyNet meets the requirements for SIL 2 safety functions with simplex Controllers and simplex I/O modules, although redundant Controllers can be added for improved availability. SIL 2 is achieved by designing-in a high level of diagnostic coverage – the basis of the T Ü V certification. The result is a product that has a very small package size, is extremely cost effective and gives Solution Providers a product that meets the safety needs of Emergency Shut Down (ESD), Fire & Gas (F&G), Burner Management (BMS) applications and – together with MOST’s Process Control Platform – can also meet the needs for Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS). “Winning this award confirms to us that SafetyNet has an important role to play in today’s safety conscious environments.” says Dil Wetherill, Business Development Manager for MOST. “As safety system companies and end users apply IEC61508, they find that they have many SIL 2 safety functions which do not require the initial expense, cabinet space and on-going life costs of more sophisticated SIL 3 solutions.
