| Where process
industries involve explodive atmospheres, the ATEX Directives
- 94/9/EC (100a) and 1999/92/EC (137) lay down European legal
requirements. In the UK, the methods of implementation of
these directives are found in the Equipment and Protective
Systems (EPS) regulation, which defines the requirements for
equipment manufacturers; and the Dangerous Substances and
Explosive Atmospheres (DSEAR) regulation details the user's
responsibilities.
The key areas covered by this course are
the application of the directives to equipment design (electrical
and non-electrical) and manufacturer; and to installation
practice with reference to the new HSE Approved Codes of Practice.
Although some of the interpretation of
these Directives is still under discussion, much is now clear;
especially that ATEX will bring about significant changes
to those industries that operate with potentially explosive
atmospheres.
The seminar is targeted at management;
engineering, both electrical and mechanical; production and
safety personnel involved in equipment design and use in potentially
explosive atmospheres.

where the courses are being held see the UK
