The MTL Instruments Group plc (“MTL” or the “Company”) announces that it was notified on 25 July 2005 that on 20 July 2005 Merrill Lynch British Smaller Companies Trust Plc sold 65,000 ordinary shares in MTL and now has an interest in 563,407 ordinary shares, representing 2.96% of the issued share capital of the Company.
